I am honored to have taken over as the 6th Executive Governor of Plateau State, and I am excited to begin my journey of serving and leading this wonderful state. Together with my Deputy Governor, Hon. @JosephinePiyo, we pledge to unite the people of Plateau and steer the state towards steady growth and development. As enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we recognize that peace and security are fundamental to achieving growth and development. We will prioritize security, combat criminal elements and invaders and create an efficient resettlement program for internally displaced persons. Our focus will also be on Agriculture, Education, Mining and Mineral Development, Digital Economy, Youths, Women and Social Development. We will prioritize fairness, equity, and justice in all our policies and administration, and we will work closely with the legislature and the judiciary. As we take on the enormous tasks ahead, we look to the founding fathers and past leaders of Plateau for inspiration. We acknowledge the challenges ahead, but we are committed to hitting the ground running and bringing noticeable change to Plateau State. Let us work together to make Plateau State a better place for all.

I had the privilege of joining the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, and the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, at the flag-off of the distribution of relief materials (food and nutrition assistance) at Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos. This initiative reflects the compassionate leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his determination to support vulnerable citizens who are struggling with the realities of poverty. Yesterday marked a significant moment for Plateau State as we appreciate the President’s commitment to improving the living conditions of the most disadvantaged in our society. His economic reforms are well-intentioned and, by the grace of God, will deliver the desired long-term benefits, while immediate interventions like this help cushion present hardships. I sincerely appreciate the National Chairman, the Honourable Minister, members of the National and State Assemblies, and other stakeholders of our great party for their presence and commitment to initiatives that put food on the table of our people. As a government, we are also taking proactive steps to support our farmers by procuring fertilizer ahead of the next farming season. Our goal remains clear: to empower our people towards self-reliance, teaching them how to fish rather than merely giving them fish.

Today, the 27th of February 2026, I chaired a high-level State Security Council Meeting to carefully review the recent tragic incidents that claimed innocent lives in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area and other parts of our dear state. Over the past two weeks, we have experienced deeply unfortunate events, including the mining incident in Wase, which remains under investigation, and condemnable attacks in some communities. These incidents are unacceptable, and my administration is determined to address them decisively. I commend our security agencies for their swift and proactive interventions, which helped prevent further escalation. However, I have directed them to intensify surveillance and operational efforts, particularly in rural communities where isolated skirmishes have been reported. On behalf of the Government and the good people of Plateau State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to families who lost their loved ones. Their pain is our pain. Many of these deaths were avoidable, and we remain committed to taking firm and proactive measures to prevent any recurrence. Let me state clearly: every life on the Plateau is sacred. Government will not fold its arms while criminal elements attempt to undermine our collective peace. Security agencies are firmly on the trail of the perpetrators, and we will ensure they are brought to justice. I also wish to warn against unauthorized road blockages anywhere in the state. Henceforth, anyone who blocks a highway without authorization will not be tolerated. Our highways and access roads are public assets meant for all citizens. No grievance justifies taking the law into one’s hands. Community leaders will be held accountable for incidents occurring within their jurisdictions, particularly attacks or unlawful killings along highways. We must all play our part in safeguarding our communities. I have also taken note of mischievous attempts by certain individuals to portray Plateau State negatively. Plateau roads are safe. Plateau people are peace-loving. We will not allow exaggerated narratives or misinformation, especially on social media, to erode the hard-earned peace we have built over the last six months. Now more than ever, I call on all Plateau citizens to foster tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and unity. Together, we will overcome these challenges and continue building a state where every citizen can live, work, and thrive without fear. Peace and security remain our collective responsibility.

Today, alongside my Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, I heartily welcomed participants of Executive Course 48 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru to the New Government House, Rayfield. Our discussions centered on practical strategies to drive inclusive growth and sustainable development through the Orange Economy, from innovative policy frameworks and creative industry empowerment to youth engagement and investment pathways that will unlock the vast potential of our cultural and creative sectors.

I was deeply honoured on Tuesday at the Polo Field, Jos, to be formally received into the All Progressives Congress (APC) by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, ably represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, alongside the leadership of our great party and thousands of party faithful and residents of Plateau State.. This decision is driven by one overriding priority: to fast-track peace, unity, and sustainable development for our dear state through stronger collaboration with the Federal Government. I am grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the warm reception and for his confidence in Plateau State as a diverse but strategic asset to Nigeria’s growth. I fully align with the Renewed Hope Agenda and remain committed to inclusive, people-centred governance that gives every Plateau citizen a fair chance to thrive. Plateau stands united beyond politics, ethnicity, or faith towards a shared future of progress and prosperity. Together, we will deepen democracy, strengthen peace, and deliver real development for our people.
