@tclarkpitching Is that a high school coach workload problem or the fact that kids try to throw 12 months a year. Even big leaguers take time off each year. Workload management isn’t just an in season thing.

There’s a major workload management issue in highschool baseball right now…and for some reason no one is talking about it

‘26 OF Jeb Kessinger Jr (@CamelsBaseball) lines this to CF for a single. Long frame @ 6’2”/170. Stays firm on back 1/2 & swings on a level plane. Direct path. #PGHS

‘26 RHP Will Peed (@CamelsBaseball) was competitive in this one, striking out 5 in his 4 innings. Limited weak contact & kept hitters off balance for the most part. High slot w/ arm swing. Sneaky life & carry thru zone @ 80-81. Tunneled SL & CH well in the high 6s (clip). #PGHS

‘27 2Way Gavin Kramer (@CamelsBaseball) smoked this double in the gap. Stays longer thru the zone but puts together healthy hacks. Looks to do damage w/ each swing. XL frame @ 6’4”/210. @WVCBaseball commit. #PGHS @Gavinkram4

Given the location of where we are, weather becomes a factor. We’re forced to push the C’er into uncomfortable/unconventional situations. C’er had been struggling throwing & blocking from their RKD, so we suggested and encouraged the switch of the knee down, and angled the setup more. The action/response: a combo drill —> Receive -> Dry Block Lateral (R/L) -> Exchange/Footwork (inspiration: @catchblockthrow)

If your 14 YO multi-sport athlete isn’t willing to eat breakfast daily, make his or her own snacks, put their phone down an hour before bed they really don't care about being great. Seriously, if a 14 YO who has a tablet, spends > 4 hours/day social media, is enrolled in specialized training/multiple sports that you spend thousands of dollars on annually should absolutely be able to structure a routine! Summer is coming to a close. It's not the time to goof off. Now is the time to dial in your nutrition, sleep, hydration, and habits. Don’t claim you want to be great, set PRs this fall, and be a starter yet have a work ethic consistent with riding the bench. Some extra tough love from me this morning.. there’s a lot of hard working athletes out there hungry to get better and will easily outperform those who slept in, stayed up late, skipped breakfast, and cared more about social media than they do playing time. You reap what you sow. If you want to be a first string starter your habits should reflect that. Control your controllables.
