REVIVAL GENERATION 🔥😭🙌 Literally moved to tears of joy multiple times this week at Baylor 😭😭😭 The HUNGER, HUMILITY and UNITY of these students and leaders is overwhelming and palpable! The culture of this campus has been radically transformed the last few years through the simple obedience and faith of a handful of praying leaders. The students have caught the fire and now it is spreading across the campus and beyond. It has been an incredible honor and joy to build friendships with so many of these leaders and now this campus is positioned not only to continue seeing revival here but to spread the gospel across the world! We saw God move in so many ways this week with students saved, confessing sin and broken hearted over their lost friends and family. Also 61 students got baptized last night! 🙌🙌🙌 Please continue to pray for these students and their leaders that God will multiply what He is doing to other campuses and the nations for the glory of God! 🚀🌏🙏

PRAYER REQUEST 🙏🙏🙏 This week I have the incredible opportunity to witness first hand and invest in what God is doing at @fm72waco ! What God has been doing at Baylor through this united prayer emphasis the last few years I can confidently label as revival (and I don’t say that lightly) the spiritual temperature across multiple churches and ministries is like nothing I have seen before. There is a genuine humility and hunger for God among the students and these leaders that is contagious. It’s not showy or forced but sincere and deep. This week, I have the privilege of speaking at the last session challenging around 3,000 students to take this fire and spread it to others through evangelism! Please cover that in prayer and join me in praying that God will continue to fan into flame the work He is doing on this campus. That God will spread the flame of revival to every campus and every nation through these students! May this truly be the revival generation 🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏

UNDERSTANDING SANCTIFICATION MATTERS 🚨🚨🚨 “The Christian’s motto should not be ‘Let go and let God’ but ‘Trust God and get going.” J.I. Packer I have been deeply concerned lately by the false teaching and confusion on the topic of sanctification that I am seeing lately by some popular Christian influencers and a trend among young zealous newer believers... One major influencer went so far as to say that believers no longer need to confess sin anymore and 1 John 1:9 doesn’t apply to Christians! 😳 Others emphasize such dramatic before and after testimonies that it gives the impression that all you need is a one spiritual breakthrough and you will be done struggling with sin… If you know me, then you know I do believe we should ask for and expect the Holy Spirit to move in powerful ways. (Just wrote a whole substack series on the topic). Even when God brings supernatural breakthrough or personal revival that is always followed by a PROCESS of sanctification. It’s not either or but both and! Personally, I had a period in my early twenties I fell into a version of more extreme flavor of “Keswick Theology” that resulted in morbid introspection and ultimately a lack of confidence because I wasn’t experiencing the “victory” (a next level of almost sinless perfection) that certain books and teachers where promising. I am so grateful for solid pastors and mentors I have learned from over the years as well as authors like Jerry Bridges, J.I. Packer and others that helped me understand sanctification on a deeper level as a life long process. “As long as we are content to live without revival, we will.” Leonard Ravenhill 🔥🙌🙏 Powerful time with collegiate leaders from across Japan! Many of us were moved to tears as we reflected on the urgency and opportunity for reaching this next generation of Japanese students. God moved and met us in so many ways that it is hard to put into words all that He did... Alongside lots of practical equipping, I believe God inspired hope and faith for God to move among this next generation in ways this nation has never seen before! I truly believe Japan is ripe for revival. These teams are seeing encouraging fruit on their campuses with Japanese students coming to Christ, getting baptized, being discipled and even joining core teams to get trained up as laborers! My friend @tomohiro.brason is doing a great job modeling these things as well as forming connections and partnerships across the nation. There is a whole generation of young people waiting for someone to come tell them the good news of Christ! There is no better time than now to send teams and workers to flood the 1,000+ college / university campuses with the gospel. These workers are excited to host teams and form partnerships with churches in the North America. If you want to make a connection with them let me know! Last Day of conference for collegiate leaders here in Japan! Pray for a breakthrough in faith and expectation for them 🙏

PRAYER REQUEST 🙏🙏🙏 I am in currently in Japan with Christy and Evelyn and I have the incredible opportunity to speak for around 30 collegiate ministry leaders from across the nation! I will be leading 6 sessions on all things evangelism, disciple-making and collegiate ministry. This is such a beautiful place and people but I am not naive to the spiritual challenges the workers face here. Japan is 0.5% Evangelical Christian and there are 1,104 colleges / university campuses representing 3 million students! The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few! Please pray for God to bless this conference in every way to equip and encourage these leaders laboring on some of the most difficult and strategic mission fields I can think of! May every campus in this nation one day have a multiplying gospel movement 😤💯🙏

PRAYER REQUEST 🙏🙏🙏 Tonight marks the launch of 4 weeks of Beach Reach PCB as well as 2 weeks of @BeachReachSPI Last year thousands of college students participated in this mission trip / evangelism training conference with even more lost college students hearing the gospel and hundreds making professions of faith in Christ! 🤯 We use creative methods such as van rides and free pancakes to share Jesus with those partying on the beaches and bars. This event has proven to be an incredible catalyst for evangelistic momentum back on our campuses! I am speaking to the first group tonight from John 4. Please pray for tonight and for the next 4 weeks that we will see God move in ways beyond all we could ask or imagine! (Eph 3:20) 🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏

PRAYER REQUEST 🙏🙏🙏 Today I have the incredible opportunity to lead a training session for the national staff conference of UBF for 300+ collegiate ministry staff serving across North America. This training is called “From Ministry To Movement” and my goal is to encourage and equip them to build a culture of spiritual multiplication in their ministries and beyond! Please pray for anointing, protection, wisdom and clarity to make the most of this opportunity. I am currently feeling a bit sick so pray my voice and energy holds up and I am able to play my part well. Pray that God uses this conference to ignite a true movement of God among these leaders. 🙏🙏🙏

Theological convictions and distinctions are extremely important. I am glad to be part of a movement (SBC) that has clear beliefs and values that I believe strongly in. However, we must be careful not to throw a wet blanket on the work of God in movements outside of our tribe or even doing things differently or out of our comfort zone. Revival rarely fits in neat and tidy theological camps… Discernment is essential but cynicism may be a greater threat in some circles. Excellence honors God but I am worried that some churches take this value to an unhealthy extreme that stifles creativity, authenticity and allowing room for those raw moments that the Spirit moves in unexpected ways. I also believe that it may be a partial cause of burn out for some ministry leaders expected to hit a home run every time…

The next generation isn’t asking for local ministry leaders to comment on every cultural issue that comes up… They actually are growing weary of the constant conflict and tension. It’s also not sustainable for local leaders to spend time getting the facts on every online controversy. They should be focusing on personally discipling students more than online platforms. Sometimes the wisest course of action is to pick your battles.
