This was such a great opportunity to screen several women since they turned out in large numbers. We will follow up the women with positive HPV results and link them to care after further tests at KEMRI

A successful free medical camp, screening and treatment, thank you KEMRI team and County government of Nandi. We continue these activities today at the Tindiret-Barngetuny Mountain run.

Today we are at Tindiret-Barngetuny Mountain run, offering free screening for cervical and breast cancer and also a medical camp conducting free medical checkups and treatment. @CancerReg_KE @Kibiwotmelli

This is a two-day event at Kapchorua ward, Taptengelee, Nandi county

KEMRI in collaboration with several partners is conducting a medical camp offering free diagnosis and treatment for communicable and non-communicable diseases. We’re also creating awareness and education on cancer and conducting free screening for cervical and breast cancer.

Cervical cancer can be prevented by getting vaccinated against HPV, having regular Pap tests and HPV tests, and avoiding or limiting the risk factors including having multiple partners. HPV vaccine is freely available for all girls in Kenya, ages 9 – 15.

The purpose of the training is to improve the quality of data produced by registries in SSA region for cancer control and research. We acknowledge the support from @Vital Strategies Bloomberg Data for Health Initiative amongst several partners.

We’re conducting an ongoing virtual training on cancer registration targeting participants from cancer registries in sub-Saharan Africa.
