Thought I'd share. The idea of this came from a USB Wi-Fi antenna I was fidgeting with

@CaptainArbiter I see no issue with this design. The Machine God spoke to you in your dreams, praise be. Mass manufacturing begins tomorrow.

@CaptainArbiter I mean it doesn't need to exist but it can exist and actually have a feature that would make it more Pro than it is Con so I can see why it should exist you could fold it into a u shape so that way you can carry it concealed

@CaptainArbiter ...because if it misaligns when you fire it, it explodes in your hands and BEST case scenario it never works again. Worst case you die. Middle case you lose your hands and probably an eye.

@CaptainArbiter Ideally a firearm has as few moving parts as possible, because of how much internal stress is caused by extended use the parts can wear down quickly, moving joints and such can become hotspots for failures Also it would be ejecting the hot casings directly back onto your arm but

@jifferey A few people have pointed out the hammer. And while this is a joke post, I would like to point out that the trapdoor rifle also has a hammer far behind the bullet as it strikes a firing pin which strikes the bullet.

@CaptainArbiter Too many moving parts and too many instances of failure. Misaligned hammer, loose screws, too much tension on the joints. It CAN WORK but its too much for something 1 joint can do.

@CaptainArbiter Mainly because a standard break action would do the same thing with 1/3rd of the moving parts. Less moving parts means less to go wrong and it’s easier to make. That’s why a lot of the over complicated early automatic mechanisms (Mars automatic for example) weren’t pursued later.

@CaptainArbiter What's going to happen when you fire the rifle while only holding the stock? Too much stress in one direction on a mechanism that is likely to be rather convoluted.
