This Day in Cougar Athletics - March 16, 2001 (25 Years Ago): The Cougar boys earn the best finish in program history, winning 3rd place at the Class 2A State Tournament. Junior Nate Schmidt is named to the All-Tournament Team. Cascade also wins the Class 2A Sportsmanship Award.

This Day in Cougar Athletics - March 15, 2006 (20 Years Ago): 2025 Hall of Fame inductee Ashley Arlen becomes the 6th Cascade girls’ basketball player to earn All-State recognition, with a 3rd team nod from the @DMRegister. Arlen will eventually be a three-time All-State honoree.

This Day in Cougar Athletics - March 12, 2016 (Ten Years Ago): After capping his career by leading Cascade to the best finish in program history, Al Marshall is inducted to the IHSAA Hall of Fame. Marshall retired with 738 career wins, the 3rd most in Iowa history at the time.

This Day in Cougar Athletics - March 11, 2016 (Ten Years Ago): The Cougar boys earn a runner-up finish at the State Tournament, falling to Western Christian in the program’s first championship game. Devin Green scores 17 points to tie the program record for career scoring.

Congratulations to Cascade's Addison Frake for being named All-State by both the Iowa Girls Coaches Association (2nd Team) and the Iowa Prep Sportswriters Association (3rd Team). This is the fifth consecutive year that Cascade has had an All-State selection.

This Day in Cougar Athletics - March 10, 2011 (15 Years Ago): Regan Takes becomes the first Cougar to win the Student Athlete-Achiever Award from the Iowa Bankers’ Association and the Iowa High School Athletic Association during the Basketball State Tournament.

This Day in Cougar Athletics - February 25, 2011 (15 Years Ago): The Cascade boys basketball team defeats rival Beckman to earn its first trip to the State Tournament in a decade. The win is Cascade’s 24th of the season, which sets a new program record.

This Day in Cougar Athletics - February 24, 1996 (30 Years Ago): Kory Manternach registers the best finish by a Cougar wrestler in more than a decade, earning 4th place at 189 pounds at the State Wrestling Tournament.

Bryce Carroll closes his season with a win, earning 5th place at 144 pounds. He’ll be joined on the medal stand by freshman Tatum Honda, who placed 8th at 126. This is just the second time in program history that two Cascade wrestlers placed at the same State Tournament.

This Day in Cougar Athletics - Feb. 20, 2021 (5 Years Ago): Aidan Noonan puts the finishing touches on the most decorated career in Cascade wrestling history with his 3rd State Championship. The win was his 133rd in a row as he ended his senior season with a perfect 46-0 record.

Before Greg McDermott was hired, Creighton was 5-53 all-time vs. Top 10 teams and hadn't beaten a Top 10 squad since topping #6 Marquette on Feb. 9, 1974 under Eddie Sutton. Under McDermott, Creighton owns 17 Top 10 wins and has at least one Top 10 win each of the last 11 years.
