Zimbabwe’s citrus sector is once again demonstrating its growing importance to the national economy as the harvest season gathers momentum. Across the country’s citrus-producing regions, farmers are harvesting premium-quality oranges, lemons, grapefruit, and soft citrus fruits destined for demanding international markets.
Exports continue to perform strongly in established destinations such as the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia, while new market opportunities are opening in East Africa and Eastern Europe. This expanding global footprint reflects increasing confidence in Zimbabwean produce and the country's ability to meet international quality standards.
A remarkable example of this success is Nottingham Estate near Beitbridge, where citrus production is delivering both economic value and social impact. The estate provides employment to more than 1,000 people, with women making up nearly half of the workforce. This highlights the sector’s contribution to job creation, household incomes, and the empowerment of women in rural communities.
Beyond the orchards, the citrus value chain supports thousands of livelihoods through packaging, transportation, logistics, and export services. The industry is also generating vital foreign currency earnings, strengthening Zimbabwe’s agricultural exports and contributing to broader economic growth.
As production expands and new markets emerge, Zimbabwe’s citrus industry continues to position itself as a key pillar of agricultural transformation, rural development, and export-led prosperity.

I have recordings of most of my meetings and telephone conversations with Kuda Tagwirei.
Secondly, the instruction for me not to remove executive order sanctions for at least 5 years from the time I met him in 2022, so that he could buy up more companies struggling under sanctions, was not given to me alone. There were witnesses.
Additionally, his instruction that I must not fight the Magnitsky sanctions on the President, First Lady, and others after removing the executive order sanctions were removed in 2024 was given to me by him and his associates several times, in front of witnesses too. That is why you saw me not touching the Magnitsky sanctions.
Finally, and over and above everything, his conduct emboldened the Americans to impose the Magnitsky sanctions on him, the President, First Lady, and other senior officials two years later. Specifically because:
1. He refused to pay the lawyers he got us to engage to fight sanctions for two years while we were in court.
2. He refused to depose and sign affidavits in South African courts in our case against Biden, the US Treasury, global banks, the Secretary of State, and others. This was after they laid out their reasons for sanctioning Kuda and others under executive order sanctions.
I don’t quite agree that this suffices as a breach of the Patriotic Act but it maybe read as treason or failure to combat economic warfare/sabotage.

Rutendo alleges that Kuda Tagwirei interfered with efforts to procure the removal of sanctions on Mnangagwa and his wife. If that claim is true, then the treachery involved would be extraordinary, especially given that Tagwirei is a Mnangagwa boy. I cannot say where the truth lies in these allegations. ZANU PF people are evil. ZANU PF people lie. ZANU PF people are disloyal and lack probity. Anything is possible. What I can say, with certainty, is what the law requires. If Rutendo is lying, then he has defamed Tagwirei in a manner that cannot be brushed aside. It’s not political talk but malicious slander. He must be held to account and can be sued in our courts even if he is not in the country. If, however, he is telling the truth, then Tagwirei’s conduct is assuredly treasonous, laying aside for once the small matter of it being in breach of the Patriotic “Act”. Either way, the law must take its course, and it must do so against whoever is guilty. This cannot be business as usual. If Rutendo is in the wrong, Tagwirei must move decisively to clear his name. He has no option. If Tagwirei is in the wrong, then the alleged commission of treason is not something to be waved away; Zimbabweans would have every right to demand criminal accountability. Century Auto Assembly is preparing to commence vehicle assembly production. Their plant, located in Mt Hampden, Mashonaland West Province is part of Bronzepels Investments (Pvt) Ltd expansion project. Century Auto Assembly is an emerging automotive enterprise prepared to compete in the local motor industry once fully operational. Progress in setting up the plant is at an advanced stage. The company has successfully concluded the installation of testing equipment for vehicle suspension systems and brake performance. Century Auto is a tried and tested company with established regional operations in countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, and Egypt. In those markets, the company has gained extensive experience in assembling a range of vehicles, including GSC models, Ford Ranger, JMC, and Toyota units.
The Ministry's Mashonaland West Provincial office paid a visit to Century Auto Assembly to get an appreciation of progress. The US 10-million-dollar project is 99% complete. Century Auto started its operations back in February 2025 and here we are. It can be done.
