@danademaster @MetroGram @laflaneuse Only a couple of the poverty tables are available in “racial iterations” (which are problematic but best you can do without PUMS) but not the ones with ratio of income to poverty level.
censusreporter.org/topics/poverty/ may help a little

@mikejcorey @pwilkebrown More complete BG labels should be showing up now. Fixed janky mis-encoded names (with diacriticals) while the hood was up. Thanks for the nudge.

@bjornwarloe @andersem fair point, but when the number is reduced to an average there’s no knowing how many people are at each level. To that point, for a little more nuance see ACS tables like B19081: Mean Household Income of Quintiles

To understand the basics of power within a metro area, no map is perfect but it's hard to beat median income by census tract (thanks, @CensusReporter) censusreporter.org/data/map/?tabl…

Do people who grow up in your town tend to stick around? When young adults move in, where are they coming from?
Census migration data can answer those questions, and this story recipe walks you through using that data for your own local stories. source.opennews.org/articles/story…

@mikejcorey @pwilkebrown Fair enough. It’s messy with long county names but we can abbreviate “Block Group” to BG to help a little.
Won’t bore you with the details but it’s messier to change in the workflow we’ve landed on, but we’ll figure something out.
English

@pwilkebrown @mikejcorey The names aren’t incorrect, they’re just in different tracts.
Column heads on the data table like “Block Group 1, Tract 302.01, Ramsey, MN” seem like their own kind of problem.
We figured actual geoIDs would be how those interested in BGs would make sense but open to change

@blu3r4d0n Turns out it’s 9 in the 2020 Decennial… (we don’t show the MOE for total pop but it’s ±6 in ACS 2016-2020)

from Decennial 2020, there are 162 cities, towns, or Census designated places smaller than Grano, including 48 with zero population!
