Due to a record number of participants in the University’s Order of Christian Initiation for Adults process, attendance at tonight's Easter Vigil will be extremely limited. To accommodate OCIA participants and their loved ones, the following guidelines have been put in place:

Everyone's letting them have it for this (and with good reason), but I do think it reflects a fairly widespread view in Canada — viz. that harsh criticism of public institutions amounts to an act of lèse-majesté.

I love seeing the multiple news stories in recent months (this latest one below behind a paywall, mea culpa) about all the 20/30-somethings flocking to Catholicism in NYC, almost all focused specifically on the Dominicans' Greenwich Village parish. But, at some point I'd love for the journalists out there to discover that many other Catholic churches in and beyond Manhattan -- many of them NOT run by the (great, effective) Order of Preachers, and not all of them easily characterized by phrases like "anti-woke", or socially-mobile-professional, or whatever -- are increasingly packed to the rafters, standing room only, every Sunday. And they might also see that that many women and men of a variety of ages -- not just "hot", clubbable, Gen Z kids -- are among those returning or coming for the first time to the Faith and increasingly filling the pews these days. AND, above all, whatever journalists, editors, & producers deem to be good copy or not in this cultural/political moment, I would LOVE it it the pastors of these growing numbers of crowded churches would start scheduling in an additional Mass or two at this point on Sundays -- so that more people (including the moms with kids, the construction worker who has been working hard, not at a keyboard, all week, and the elderly folks using canes or walkers...) can more easily find a seat and recollect themselves. washingtonpost.com/style/trends/2…

@finseraste There's no business case or rationale for a government-subsidized train between Calgary and Edmonton. If you're in one of those cities and you want to go to the other you can just go.

@CestuiQueTakes You should brush off those legal skills that define your X bio and review the debates on the two bills related to this issue.

@Anthony__Koch If you're asking me whether I think the CPC should either (a) make itself more electable in Anglo Canada (including by being pro multiculturalism) or (b) make itself more electable in QC, and that you can only choose A or B, the answer is obvious.

@CestuiQueTakes Or maybe the federal Conservative Party can cool their jets on multiculturalism and immigration. The appetite for a federalist, centre-right, Quebec only party among voters is non existent.

Don't laugh -- people like this dominate the education and social welfare system across Canada. They imposed a $750K fine on a school trustee who resisted the imposition of gender indoctrination on every student in British Columbia, festoon public schools across Canada in trans flags, and teach children from the earliest age that any of them can change sex. They engaged in a state-sponsored campaign to shut down a women's shelter in Vancouver because it refused to allow in men and apologized for putting on a Harry Potter-theme children's event that ended up having to be extended by weeks because it was by far the best attended event in history.

Paul St-Pierre Plamondon@PaulPlamondon
