@misterlaserinko @CCMMSRedwolves I love the topic choice! Understanding how to examine your own values and culture is such an important skill, especially for middle schoolers as they go through so much social growth.

This semester my partner and I had the opportunity to present a workshop on culture and point of view to a 7th grade ELA class. Our focus was on how our environments influence the way we are, the stories we tell, and the values we hold. #ED204SLP @CCMMSRedwolves

@lmblackwell4 @CCMMSRedwolves I love that you had them use fractions in two unrelated, but common scenarios. I'm sure that really nailed down for some of the students just how important it is to know fractions.

A couple weeks ago, the students @CCMMSRedwolves worked with fractions and cupcake ingredients to "bake". This lesson was designed to help students practice making fractions and multiplying them to fulfill the recipe. #ED204

@onlymathmattas @CCMMSRedwolves @NCSU_CEDTandD Those designs are all so unique! Letting them experience the same task with and without a design process is a great way to show how much the design process can help, I bet they'll all remember this lesson.

Look at what the amazing students of Mr. Woods's class made in only half an hour! #ED204SLP

@toxikpedagogy That looked like a great time! I had a class in high school where we took a day to learn about meditation, and it's still one of my strongest memories from high school. It's so important for kids to learn how to slow down when the world keeps on getting faster.

We showed students that mindfulness can be practiced using breathing through a variety of activities, including movement, drawing, and song. My subgroup engaged in dancing and flexibility exercises. Below the student's worked on scapula mobility! #ED204SLP 3/3

@SynaSharma1 @NCStateCED @CCMMSRedwolves I love the focus on decentralized systems of education! I believe that the internet has changed how we all learn on a societal level, so it's important that students practice peer to peer learning early on.

Overall, I think digital manufacturing techniques can provide interesting new avenues for learning in any subject. Teachers can create learning tools tailored to their classroom context, and the best tools can be shared online for all to use. #ED204SLP

All of the number counters I printed were taken home by students. Since they helped out in our class, I'll go ahead and share the design in case anyone else would like to print this out. Version 1 had some design flaws that I fixed in version 2. dropbox.com/sh/yh0n8w5oyac…

Last week I finished my Service Learning project for ED204! My partner and I, with our 7th grade class, reviewed positives and negative integers, and how they affect simple operations. @NCStateCED @CCMMSRedwolves

@MOllio_teach Connecting to the larger world is what tech education is all about! It’s going to be so important that kids understand how the world works, especially as it changes faster and faster.

Melinda D. Anderson argues the importance of teaching children so that they are connected to the world outside of school in her book, Becoming A Teacher. How can teachers in a variety of subjects incorporate this into their curriculum? #ED204

@lmblackwell4 I’ve heard idealistic used as a negative trait before, but I think it’s what we need as teachers. Whether it’s in where we choose to teach, or what we believe our kids can do.

I chose this quote because Mrs. Hall recognizes that students in the city don't have the same resources and privileges that students in the county might have. It is nice to see that some teachers consider this when choosing where they will teach. #ED204

Through the semester, we’ve been reading Becoming A Teacher in #ED204. So far, my favorite quote is at the end of chapter 5. When I think about my time in grade school, my favorite teachers were always the ones that got to know me on a personal level.

First Tweet! So excited to teach tech one day. I wonder, what kind of cool projects will I get to do with my students? Can't wait to see what they're capable of! #ED204questions #teachertwitter
