Sorry Elon, but your criticism falls flat when X still allows racist abuse, graphic war footage and dangerous viral challenges to spread. Many users report this content and nothing happens. Before blaming governments for trying to protect children, perhaps social media platforms should look in the mirror and ask whether they've done enough to protect vulnerable young people themselves.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

This censorship law is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The real goal is to enable the UK government to track everyone.

@BobbyBill1982 Historically, the Tories stood for continuity and tradition. The Whigs were the disruptors and reformers. If we're drawing parallels, a movement built on overturning the political establishment looks far more Whig than Tory.

@CheckCharlieB lol how so? Tories don’t even protect Britain they sell it out to Russians and Chinese. The whigs were radicals that were very defensive of this country like us restorers!

If Conservatives are still called "Tories" over 300 years later, why aren't Liberals still called "Whigs"? 🤔

Marie, that's a fair concern, but age verification and digital ID are not the same thing. We ask for proof of age for countless things in society. The aim is to keep children away from harmful content and addictive algorithms, not to create a national database of social media users. The debate should be about how it's implemented, not whether child safety matters.

Only predicted to get 1% of vote - why this Tory isn't giving up Burnham by-election fight. The bookies have written him off but @Winstamike remains optimistic he can do better than expected. A longer write up of last week's interview below 👇 express.co.uk/news/politics/…

Nobody is pretending this is an easy seat to win. Some constituencies are simply too far gone. But democracy isn't just about turning up where victory is guaranteed. It's about giving voters a choice and standing up for your beliefs. Whether he gets 1%, 10%, or more, he's out there knocking on doors, speaking to residents, and making his case. That deserves respect, regardless of political differences.

Reform vs Restore. Labour vs Greens. Everyone fighting everyone. Meanwhile, the Conservatives walk straight down the middle of the battlefield and into Downing Street. Prime Minister: . #KemiForPM

Funny how a party supposedly leading the polls can't seem to win unless everyone else gets out of the way first. If 8% is enough to derail Reform's chances, perhaps the problem isn't Restore it's Reform's inability to broaden its appeal.
Ian James Seale@IanJamesSeale

Andy Burnham 45% Robert Kenyon 40% Rebecca shepherd 8% For pity's sake Rupert, stand Rebecca down and give @reformparty_uk a clear run. Anything less and you're not the man that I thought you was, and that you pretend to be.

Steve, the real question is why Reform and its supporters seem so obsessed with attacking a party polling around 8% rather than explaining why voters should back them. If Reform is supposedly the unstoppable force the polls claim, why the constant focus on rubbishing political opponents? Perhaps it's time to stop looking for excuses and start looking in the mirror. Strong parties win support on their own merits. They don't spend every day blaming everyone else for their problems.

Why is an 8% party supposedly so important to Reform's success? Labour has been through a difficult period. Reform has enjoyed favourable headlines, wall-to-wall media coverage and strong polling. Yet we're constantly told that a party polling around 8% is somehow the obstacle standing in Reform's way. If Reform is truly a political force on the verge of government, why does it need smaller parties to stand aside? Why is so much attention focused on who isn't voting for them rather than who is? Successful parties win support because voters are persuaded by their message. They don't depend on rivals disappearing from the ballot paper. Perhaps the real question isn't why Restore exists. Perhaps it's why, despite all the publicity and momentum, Reform still struggles to convert headlines into votes.

Nadine if Reform can't win a by-election without Restore standing aside, that raises a fair question about Reform's own appeal. Parties that are genuinely breaking through should be able to win votes on their own merits, not rely on competitors removing themselves from the ballot. If voters aren't switching in sufficient numbers, perhaps the issue isn't Restore's presence it's whether Reform is offering something enough people actually want to support.

Restore cannot win in Makerfield. Leaked stories about fake polls which never materialise showing them on 13% simply don’t exist anywhere other than in Rupert Lowes head. Vote Restore get Burnham. mol.im/a/15897865
