Year 7, 8 and 9 were lucky enough to have a talk exploring the real world applications of Maths yesterday. Some highlights were discussing the Maths of hairdressing, estimating & modelling, including a sneaky bit of getting the audience wet! @chelmerSTEAM @ChelmerValleyHS

We have installed whiteboards around some of our Maths rooms. This allows our students to work together, problem solve, compete and reinforce their knowledge. Y10 enjoyed using them to solve some lovely tricky conditional probability questions @ChelmerValleyHS @chelmerSTEAM

Year 10 have been solving simultaneous equations in the last week. They have done brilliantly, and all completed a real world task about an infamous fast food chain. @ChelmerValleyHS @chelmerSTEAM

A huge thank you to Mr Read, Mr Sheldon, Mrs Williamson, Miss Edmunds, Mr McCarthy, Mrs Wood and Mrs Salter. Running a residential trip abroad is no easy feat and without them it would have been impossible. We hope y9 made some fantastic memories. @chelmerSTEAM @ChelmerValleyHS

Year 9 had their Maths seminar yesterday at Disneyland Paris, highlighting that Maths is central to a wide variety of applications. They looked into several aspects of Maths, including scale factor and how this is used throughout the park. @chelmerSTEAM @ChelmerValleyHS

The Disney trip have arrived safely at their hotel and have settled into their rooms. Time to rest and be ready for a full day at the park tomorrow! @chelmerSTEAM @ChelmerValleyHS

Year 9 Disney trip is off! We hope they have a great time learning about the various applications of Maths in running a major theme park, as well as enjoy the rides! The group is currently at the ferry port, departure time estimated to be 0845 @chelmerSTEAM @ChelmerValleyHS

It was great to see our Year 9s and their parents at preferences evening. We displayed how we are ambitious and supportive with GCSE Maths, whilst challenging our students (and deputy head!) to a Maths challenge. Well done to Jonathan M - winning in 55 secs!! @ChelmerValleyHS

Year 10 had a great time playing "TaskMATHSter" on Tuesday. Well done to all teams. Shout out to JS for reciting the first 27 multiples of 17 on the spot and AM with his "twinkle twinkle little bar chart". @chelmerSTEAM @ChelmerValleyHS

Today Year 10 and 12 students went to Maths Inspiration in Cambridge! They got to enjoy talks on Maths in sustainability, risk and reward and the beauty of Circles. Mr Curd even got a shout out, for taking students on his birthday! @chelmerSTEAM @ChelmerValleyHS

Year 9 finished off the half term with a competitive treasure hunt on expanding double brackets. Well done for a fantastic start to the year! @ChelmerValleyHS @chelmerSTEAM
