to recount:
- 8' Sadiki tackles Kolo Muani, who's through on goal, with studs at knee-height. No card, not even a foul
- 15' Brobbey is late & overly-aggressive in a challenge that could easily injure someone. No card.
- 21' O'Nien slides in from behind, sweeping Kolo Muani's legs. Ref sees enough to overturn on-field decision (clear & obvious?), drop ball Sunderland.
- 27' Romero goes in with similar/less force than Brobbey's challenge at 8', actually wins the ball, and is given a yellow.
- 33' Brobbey elbows Porro in the face & then shoves him to the ground. Ref had to intervene to give a foul & Brobbey yellow (possible violent conduct).
- 37' Van de Ven sees yellow (is it even a foul?) for "stopping a promising attack" that saw two Sunderland attackers vs five Spurs defenders while Brobbey is drifting away from goal. Porro given a yellow for arguing with the ref as well.
- 46' Romero gets a foul for minimal contact & Brobbey goes down clutching his head.
- 49' Reinildo takes Kolo Muani out at pace, stopping an obvious counter attack. Another missed yellow.
- 53' Udogie has an arm over his throat and studs on his calf while through on goal. No card, not even a foul.
- 58' the ref inexplicably calls for a handball, despite it clearly hitting Kolo Muani's head. Remember, VAR is in place so refs are encouraged to allow play to continue & correct afterwards. Blowing it dead then is inexcusable, and it stops a promising break for Spurs. A few minutes later, Spurs concede.
- 62' Brobbey shoves Romero into Kinsky with no regard for their safety, leaving Romero injured & Kinsky bloody. Brobbey, having been over the line multiple times in this match already, somehow escapes a yellow.
- 79' Brobbey, now incapable of playing through contact, falls over at the slightest touch & the ref rewards him.

A comprehensive compilation of the disgraceful officiating against Sunderland yesterday. As a side note, the only challenge in this video that resulted in a sanction against Sunderland was Brobbey’s on Porro at 32:04, which was a yellow card.

@yannusd @patrickscottlad Should of had a rainbow bandage soft shite !!!!
English

@patrickscottlad guy literally had to cover up his wounds because he started bleeding in his forehead you muppet

English

Grabbing his shirt, almost choking him, Brobbey could’ve died. Surely a red and 3 year ban?
(Am I doing it right Spurs fans?)

@patrickscottlad Same people moan about players been too soft and it becoming a non contact sport … we need more like Brobbey in the game !!!
English

@TheToonminator0 @RubyQNUFC Certain level of what of what btw ? No heart no fight no determination.
Everything that’s missing from your team … carry on 😂😂😂
English

@RubyQNUFC Newcastle want players that can play football, we demand a certain level.
Sunderland wants Sunday league thugs with no style
English

Brian Brobbey epitomises everything that is wrong with modern day football.
I grew up watching players defined by elegance and intelligence on the ball: the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Dimitar Berbatov, Alan Shearer, Robin Van Persie, Andy Cole and Sergio Aguero. They made the game feel like an art form as much as a sport.
Now I have to watch lumps like Brobbey who has nothing more than physicality to his game. He plays like a WWE wrestler, not a Premier League footballer. It’s effective sure, but boy is it painful to watch.
It’s the sad reality of where our beautiful game has gone. And it’s why players with more natural talent and technical quality like Nick Woltemade are struggling.
Brian Brobbey is the face of this new era and it’s painfully sad.

English

@RubyQNUFC This is what football is missing , players playing on the edge and getting stuck in , actually he epitomises everything that is missing from the modern game !!!
English

Pulling hair is a red but Brobby injuring two players wasn’t even a yellow.
Make it make sense @FA_PGMOL
English

@thfcdoomster What did you want us to do roll over and let you beat us … maybe your team could learn something, you’ll get far far worse next season !!!
English

Stop him and he’ll foul you and end your season while also injuring your team mate
Sunderland AFC@SunderlandAFC
Try and stop him.
English

So very @SpursOfficial to see their captain ruled out for the rest of the season in Roberto De Zerbi’s 1st game.
Hope Brian Brobbey is pleased with himself
The referee, who failed to send him off following a number of aggressive challenges, should hang his head in shame too
English

🟥If Cristian Romero does that tackle he’s sent off for Tottenham Hotspur.
🏁Quite simply unbelievable the inconsistency in refereeing decisions against Spurs this season.

@LastWordOnSpurs Romero on Brobbey first half, could easily be a red … missed that !!!

Tottenham fans have not taken their loss to Sunderland very well at all.
Proper generational head loss in some quarters.
To be fair, we’ve been in their position many times and it’s not much fun at all!

@todareistod1882 @DavidHSR7 @SunderlandAFC Drinking from the fountain of victory not relegation 😂😂😂😂
English

@DavidHSR7 @SunderlandAFC Your fanbase’s responses just keep getting better 😂
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, you lot are thick as mince.
What is in the water up there?
English

Actually disgusting from this admin. Ruined Romero’s World Cup dreams and gets praised for it.
