He just didn't trust Santos enough yet and I'm getting the feeling of legs and adapting to the PL but he was wrong not to play Santos more but Maresca changed his idea based on the lack of a progressive CB and were seeing it now, it was for the balance. Remember he always talked about balance. Seeing how we're open now because we dont have the CBs and midfield legs to handle transition when we lose tbe ball through the middle, you get to understand his trade off of using wing progression as a safety net.
