1. Distributivism is an idea, not an economic structure. Ask any distributivist how exactly their ideal civilization might be achieved specifically and they will fall apart. Hillaire beloc and Chesterton are both great reads for assessing the situation, but are light on concrete solutions. Here are some concrete solutions that are worth exploring: - Return to sound money - Make owners of corporations liable - Eliminate “publically traded” corporate structures 2. Socialism is not a Catholic economic structure. Some level of private ownership and responsibility is also consistent with Catholic social teaching. 3. The framing of oppressed and oppressor, class struggle, racism, etc is inconsistent with the Catholic worldview that sees individual difference and hierarchy as given by God. Socialism is antithetical to Catholic anthropology where hierarchy and mutual responsibility is absolutely essential to the Catholic view of nature.

@ChristendomQ @_CatholicWest The actual economic positions are not far from distributism, or some combination of distributist and syndicalist thought, neither of which is incompatible with Social Teaching and both of which have certain overlaps with the actual historical “Christendom” you laud.

I struggled for a long time to integrate the two parts of me, my faith and my political beliefs. I resolved it by realizing my political beliefs should be downstream of, and informed by, my faith. Then I found people who had done that, people like @ebruenig and now I'm settled
