@TehDuffman @cta I think if you put a billboard out front of it with even just the total RPM TIF property tax funding (never mind the Federal matching funds) out front of that flyover you’d lose that bet.

The US should have a single federal building code that applies to all jurisdictions. Our patchwork of codes and ordinances is a nightmare for developers and architects who operate across multiple cities.

This, as much as any other reason, is why housing is expensive and bad. Our codes have grown far more than our homes. Giles has done really good work here.

land value tax. LAND VALUE TAX. you tax the land not the building so there’s no penalty for building up and empty lot downtown stops being a free ride and suddenly everyone wants to build and the city funds itself and it’s elegant and it’s BEAUTIFUL and no one will do it. no one
