Motivation is overrated. Don’t wait until you feel motivated or “ready” to do something because motivation is a feeling. It’s not concrete. It’ll come and go. Motivation & inspiration come after action. That’s the beauty of discipline. Discipline is showing up consistently, regardless of how you feel. It’s taking action no matter what. It’s committing to small habits that lead to success. It doesn’t take talent or skill, it just takes showing up and putting in the work. You’re not always going to feel ready for opportunities that come your way or things you want to achieve. You can find any excuse for why you can’t do something, but those are often self-imposed limits put on ourselves. They’re not true and brought on by fear. Fear is the uncertainty of something that is not real. Sometimes the only way to go is to be thrown in the fire. Greatness takes boldness. It’s taking that first step, regardless of how you feel. It takes courage. Like John Wayne once said, “Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.” You may not feel motivated, confident or ready. Don’t wait to take that step. Go out and take action. You’ll never know what you can achieve until you do so.
