@GregAbbott_TX You are so out of touch with the majority of Texas Republicans on this issue that it’s almost comical… We all know you and your rich buddies are the only beneficiaries of a “voucher” bill.

This session, I’m working closely with the Texas House & Senate to get school choice across the finish line. Together, we will ensure every child—no matter their zip code—has access to the BEST education options possible. Education freedom opens up opportunities for all Texans.

@GregAbbott_TX Agreed…. But when the state pays teachers more, schools have more options and get to choose NOT to hire “those” teachers.

No parent should be forced by the state to send their child to this school. I'm fighting for the right of parents to send their children elsewhere. Parents deserve school choice in Texas. The candidates I am backing will deliver that school choice.

NEW: Crossdressing Texas high school teacher put on leave after he showed up to school in women's clothes including a tutu. Get these creeps away from children. Chemistry teacher Rachmad Tjachyadi has been suspended after @libsoftiktok shared footage of the creep. Principal Amy Broughton said it "would be natural for our families to have questions about this situation" adding that the situation was "under review, there is no additional information the district can share." Tjachyadi was known for "making the most" of dress up days and flaunting his love for women's clothes. Video: @libsoftiktok

Why are longtime conservative educators like me (lifelong R voter who voted for Abbott), posting and sharing this video? Here is why: Last Fall @GovAbbott recognized the statewide shortage of teachers, calling a special commission to address the issue. He was focused on public ed. But then, at some point he became fixated on vouchers and launched his Private school only tour where he began denouncing public ed calling us “Educrats” and indoctrinators. His actions were then echoed by many in #txlege who began affirming their west texas donors. They started clout chasing voucher lobbyists (with photo ops, using their catchphrases) and blasting public school supporters as Anti Family and Anti-Freedom. Then came the actual voucher bills in March. The bills did not (and do not) actually guarantee any choice for parents. That could be remedied, but instead they created a choice only for the schools. Further they exempted private schools from all the accountability and other compliance mandates which were being used to criticize schools. “PubEd test scores are bad”—but voucher bills removed state testing requirements “PubEd schools have too many admin”-but voucher bills exempted all the compliance, reporting, and mandates that require more admin etc. Then there were the actual bill hearings where many #txlege used their time to fawn over lobbyists while blasting actual fellow conservative public school leaders The icing was the recent public admission that the Governor is dangling any raise for teachers as a “carrot” for getting vouchers passed. So here we are. Me, a long time R voter with Public, Private, and Charter service now finding alignment with the remaining pro public ed republicans and also leading Democrats, but largely abandoned by the state leadership.

During the Spring of 2023, Gregory Abbott: 1) Used his time and energy on social media to denigrate public educators and public school communities. 2) Launched an official campaign tour attempting to convince Texans to defund the over 1k public school districts, but chose only to visit private school communities. (3) Bragged incessantly about a historic budget surplus and a plethora of business-specific #1 rankings while doing nothing to bolster a public education system ranked 40 out of 50 U.S. states in funding. NOW, Gregory is calling for all pastors in Texas to use their pulpits this Sunday (October, 8th) to speak with congregations about vouchers cloaked as school choice. What would get our Government's attention? How might we even the playing field? (1) If 10-15% of school teachers and leaders called in sick on Monday, October 9th, and showed up in Austin, Texas. Republican, Democrat, and Independent educators. Rural, Urban, and Suburban educators. (2) Another 10-15% of teachers and leaders used their conference periods on Monday, October 9th, to call their local legislators. Let them know that our elected officials in Texas have a CONSTITUTIONAL responsibility to fund public schools. We simply need 20 - 30% of educators in Texas to act. I have been consistently amazed at the bipartisan support of Texas public schools. The future of public education in Texas is in the voters' hands. It is our time to realize our role in the state's governance and the spending of our tax dollars. #txlege #publicschools
