They were standing by the shoreline during a property tour, and the agent kept calling it a “lake.” She folded her arms and shook her head. “It’s not a lake,” she insisted. “It’s just a smaller body of water.” No matter how many times someone tried to label it, she refused to call it anything else.
Sometimes it’s about technical definitions. Sometimes it’s about perception. And sometimes, it’s just about not wanting to give something more weight or value than it deserves. Why do some people avoid certain words, even when everyone else agrees on the obvious?
