South Korea only exists as an independent nation because the Allies beat the Japanese Empire, and then Western military forces fought Kim Il-Sung to a stalemate.
The ROK is far more dependent on the US than Israel.

Context matters. He didn’t willingly join, he quite literally had to, by law.
