Brian Windhorst doesn’t understand the hate Wemby is getting for campaigning for MVP: “I’m having a difficult time understanding why anybody doesn’t love this… we’re supposed to have a negative reaction to somebody who says ‘I deeply care about it?’ That’s supposed to be a character flaw? People think Luka fans are joking when we say after a game last night he will drop in MVP rankings. There’s actually guys like these idiots on ESPN pretending 34/8/8 is normal. They’re downplaying numbers not reached by Michael Jordan, Kobe or LeBron.

@dgv1133 Jokic definitely deserves the MVP on performance but overall gets docked with team record. I absolutely believe Jokic is a generational offensive player. People can hate but he's something new. He's definitely not appreciated the way he should be. Him over SGA anyday.

I like your take and I think it’s fair and objective. A few things, a good portion of Wemby’s stats are down from last year whereas almost all of Jokers are up. Wemby’s D doesn’t supersede Joker’s O - he finished the year averaging a triple double with 5 games left in the season. Joker came back from a major injury and didn’t miss a beat basically, and Wemby’s minutes are low - I think this goes toward your importance to the teams success to a lesser extent. I think Wemby is a year away, IMO! Regardless, as long a SGA doesn’t get gifted, or steals, another one I’m okay with anyone winning.

I really don’t know why the “Spurs don’t have playoff experience” topic keeps coming up. Harrison Barnes has played in 71 playoff games and won a championship. Luke Kornet has played in 43 playoff games and won a championship. Kelly Olynyk has 48 games of playoff experience, including a trip to the NBA Finals. De’Aaron Fox, Mason Plumlee, and Bismarck Biyombo have 118 combined games of playoff experience. Victor Wembanyama led France to the Gold Medal Game in the Olympics with a lot more pressure in France. This team has played playoff-like games this season and is battle tested. Sure, pressure may get to a young team in certain situations, but they have plenty of talent and composure to get by in the playoffs. I am not worried about the Spurs lack of “playoff experience” one bit, and I fully expect to see them in the Western Conference Finals against OKC.

@Its_Wade Jokic definitely should have won last year and has the best case in my opinion this year from an unbias view, but the record matters. Wemby has the second best case this year and if he finishes with the 1 seed, I don't see how people can keep him out of MVP talks.

@dgv1133 Jokic has a similar impact when he steps off the court to Wemby. Both teams are just completely different and the net rating difference is wild to see. I believe Jokic should have won last year, and would not be upset if he wins it this year. Wemby definitely has a case though.

@dgv1133 Wemby isn't a typical downlow post man waiting for rebounds. He spends most of his time on the wings running actions with teammates on offense or being avoided on defense. His defense is generational. Media is annoying with their praise, but his difference on that end is real.
