Your periodic posting of children's graves to show you that vaccines work.

A #nonColma grave: King Lunalilo I of Hawaii (1835-1874), Kawaiahaʻo Church Cemetery, Honolulu. William Charles Lunalilo was elected monarch in January 1873, then died 13 months later from tuberculosis.

Ido Taibo(?), Japanese Cemetery, Colma. These actually appear to be Chinese characters, rather than kanji. Google Translate was less than helpful.

Happy 98th birthday to Bert Tonkin (1926-2002), with Mary Ann Tonkin (1928-2021). Home of Peace Cemetery, Colma. I really loved Mary Ann’s quote, because I would like the answer, so snapped this for a future day, only to notice it was Bert‘s birthday. So it’s a two-post day.

Sophia Isaacs (1837-1907) and Sarah Issacs Retzold (1869-1930). Hills of Eternity Memorial Park, Colma. The irregular carving and the doves drew my attention. The carving in the bottom is dedicated to only Sophia. I suspect Sarah was the daughter who joined her mother later.

John Logan (~1852-1896), Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma. A monument from his fellow woodsmen. I saw this faux tree stump from halfway across the cemetery. The craftwork, even on the reverse, is outstanding.

Every time I’m in Colma’s Town Hall, I appreciate the classic architecture in the Council Chambers. Here for the council reorganization, then back into the cemeteries!

Fritz (1952-1953), Pet's Rest Cemetery, Colma. This marker predates the R. Crumb comic series, so I'm guessing Fritz was a dog, not a cat.

A small mausoleum for a family name that's been in the name over the past few years. Italian Cemetery, Colma.

Dr. “Paul” Pulang Li (1952-2013), Woodlawn Memorial Park, Colma. The text underneath says he was born in Guangdong province, China.

Irving Berger (1925-1986), Eternal Home Jewish Cemetery, Colma. Honoring this Electrician's Mate on what would be his 98th birthday.

Meta A. Miesner (1880-1885), Olivet Gardens, Colma. My reading of this stone is that 5-year-old Meta left grieving parents Jacob and Anna.

Edward Gee (1936-1999), Hoy Sun Memorial Cemetery, Colma. Edward was born in a village near Guangdong and if this picture is accurate, he looked like half my high-school friends' friendly "Uncle Ed."

Katie and Henry Faust (unk-unk) and Phillip Faust (1852-1916), Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma. Whenever I see this family name, I wonder what kind of bargains they made in life.
