These dresses almost disintegrated until they were saved by textile conservators in 2010. To me that’s interesting because not only were these gowns close to essentially disappearing, but also because there’s an invisible science to fashion we rarely see.

few people are going to wear a tie regardless, but i suspect that most people find things like dress shirts, suits, and even leather shoes to be uncomfortable largely bc they don't know their size. ppl buy dress shoes using, like, the Nike sneaker size they wore at age 16
