The bag in question contains language that reinforces a harmful and widely recognized racial stereotype. In the context of the ongoing humanitarian crisis and war in West Asia, where the same community targeted by this stereotype is currently facing severe humanitarian suffering and violence, the product is not only inappropriate but profoundly insensitive. It comes across as a mockery of the suffering of this region and manufactures dangerous consent for harm to befall people in the region. On top of that, this puts a massive liability and security risk to global fans who may be detained at airport security checkpoints if they travel with this merchandise. Especially in Trump’s America, where brown and black people are targeted with violence and deportation by ICE. This is not a minor oversight. The release of such an item reflects a serious lack of cultural, geopolitical awareness and responsibility, particularly from a company representing artists with a global and diverse fanbase. Especially in today’s geopolitical climate.

The Gaza Strip is facing a worsening waste crisis as a result of the Israeli genocide, with municipalities generating over 1300 tons of solid waste daily and approximately 700,000 tons accumulating in random dumps that lacked basic health and safety standards. Municipalities are grappling with severe shortages of fuel and heavy machinery needed to transport and remove the waste due to restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation. The buildup of waste has led to the proliferation of insects, rodents, and stray dogs, the spread of foul odors and toxic gases, and frequent fires at the dumps.
