Legacy Motor Club has a new president: JGR Chief Operating Officer Michael Guttilla, who will report to Legacy CEO Cal Wells. Guttilla was a Multimatic engineer for decades & a VP there before joining JGR in 2023. Legacy & JGR collaborate some as Toyota teams; JGR OK'd the move.

This is a weird argument to me. An “understanding” between Spire and JGR would not have an impact on the legal obligations between JGR and Gabehart or Spire and Robert Smith. This isn’t like stick and ball sports where players are unionized and teams can make trades. The employee would still need to be released from their contract, even if a third-party steps in and negotiates getting that release in exchange for money (ie buying out a contract). #nascourt

My thoughts are that this has gotten public because they couldn’t reach a resolution before CG went to Spire. JGR really didn’t have a choice at that point because if they didn’t take legal action, they were never going to be able to enforce the confidential information or noncompete provisions of any of their contracts moving forward. Legally speaking the story of the 54 doesn’t have anything to do with the current dispute, but I understand why CG is choosing tell the story. The part that’s missing to me is how that story has anything to do with his decision to take confidential information on November 7, regardless of whether he has passed that on or not because what he took seems to have nothing to do with the 54.

Man. Such terrible news about Dennis Hamlin. RIP. Guy seemed like a true original — and as a father poured so much into his son’s endeavor … which is really the greatest gift we can give our children. Time, support and being there for them.

My heart breaks for Denny Hamlin and his mother Mary Lou. Mary Lou is who made this day possible for my son when he got to meet his favorite driver and help Denny’s pit crew push his car out onto the track at Daytona. They are the best of people, and we are praying for them.
