Today I am sharing a lawsuit I am prepared to file against @GovKathyHochul, @NYSComptroller, Speaker Carl Heastie, Leader @AndreaSCousins and Budget Director Blake Washington if they weaken the constitutional oversight powers of the New York State Comptroller. Their proposal to raise the Comptroller’s pre-audit threshold from $50,000 to $300,000 would remove billions in taxpayer spending from independent oversight. The New York Constitution is clear: the Comptroller is required to audit vouchers before payment to protect taxpayers from unchecked government spending. Governor Hochul, if you sign the budget with this language in it, I will sue you and your enablers the very next day. Allow real oversight and stand against fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars.
