I’m not a particular fan of this track but this is not track specific. This has also happened at Jerez, Brno, Barcelona in the past. Just glad camera man is ok! Service road where we work might seem exciting etc but the dangers are very real

For clarification here…the Hypercars (with one exception) are the same sound as IMSA. Sadly the one exception is the AMR Valkyrie which sounds nothing like the IMSA version. LMP2 is the same as IMSA. BUT the GT3 cars all sound completely different to IMSA versions.

Hi. I’m Jamey and I cover racing for a living. I was at Detroit for IMSA 10 days ago. I was standing on the Mulsanne last night for qualifying , and I’ll be in Watkins Glen for the IMSA 6h next week. Any other questions? These cars are SERIOUSLY quiet compared to IMSA spec.

@CormacGP Well there’s always an accumulation of reasons, yes. But Clashing with the TT is not meaningless, the people who would’ve gone to Silverstone but couldn’t due to the TT aren’t lying about it

Enjoy going to Silverstone but I struggle with it taking up space on the calendar a bit when so few fans show up. I’m aware there are other events on, that I don’t have any interest in, this week that won’t help the case either! Difficult when you compare to Le Mans, Sepang etc

@JimmieGP_ @MotoGP @SilverstoneUK Britain just isn’t important enough. Asia & the Americas are largely where MotoGP growth is, so that’s where we’re going to go. Hence Bangkok event, Brazil next year etc. Silverstone is a lovely track but it’s just not a significant event in our year anymore

@CormacGP @MotoGP @SilverstoneUK In the words ‘bigger picture’, then scrapping the BritishGP when the sport is trying to grow to a broader audience surely can’t help, needs more attention.
Unless of course Donington pass the latest FIM homologation grades necessary and up their current facilities to GP level.

Spoke to 3 different groups of bike racing fans today at work, buying new rider gear.
End of May bank hol? They’re off to the TT, not @MotoGP at @SilverstoneUK .
Surely they’ll change the date back to August in ‘26 or ‘27?
This date change truly was stupid for all involved.

@JimmieGP_ @MotoGP @SilverstoneUK Or we just scrap it entirely. Plenty of much better events waiting in the wings. Silverstone is consistently one of my least favourite & most chaotic races we go to every year

But then surely that’s all the more reason to make sure it doesn’t clash with what many regard as the biggest date in the UK bike racing calendar, the TT.
Make a ‘minor’ GP event, as well attended as possible?

First four races of @MotoGP done! Back to Europe to start the European part of the year now. So far I’ve been to the @HRC_MotoGP team launch in Jakarta, @MotoGP launch in Bangkok, Sepang test, Buriram test, Buriram race, Argentina race, USA race, Qatar race 😂
