@Crazy8Cook Yeah, I used to run it in a spare room. Pretty amazing the gunk that was left in the evaporation tank. Crusty, nasty, green, ugly filth.

This is my recommendation for producing your own clean drinking water in Nicaragua or Latin America. It's called Reverse Osmosis and removes almost everything from water. It's a multi stage filter with charcoal pre and after filter, one sediment filter and the osmisis element. Osmosis means only water can pass through the membrane and nothing that is larger. One disadvantage is that they produce waste water, so not all the ingoing water is converted. Also, the flow rate is low so you need to keep it running and collect the clean water. There are also systems with a collection element. I prefer the compact version and collect the clean water in another clay filter for mineralization. Costing around $200 and to replace the filters / osmosis element is around $80 or so. Apec Water is a great starting point. The cheap one stage water filter make your water drinkable and remove bacteria etc, but usually don't remove much of the chlorine, heavy metals and all the other nasty stuff. Another good water cleaning solution is distiller, which evaporate and condensate water. They are quite loud and use very much electricity. Also the produced water is limited. I have used these for many years, the water tastes amazing. You see a lot of people getting water delivered in these blue large bottles for $3. I think that waters tastes terrible and I have heard rumors it's not that good. I wouldn't trust it.

That is the painful part about self-abandonment. It rarely looks dangerous while it is happening. It looks like patience, understanding, sacrifice & love, until one day you look at yourself and realize you disappeared little by little trying to keep something alive that was not feeding you too. Sometimes the heartbreak is not just losing them. It is meeting the broken version of yourself they helped create and knowing you allowed too much for too long.

I met a version of myself I didn’t recognize. Someone who overexplains. Overthinks. Waits for replies like they mean everything. Doubts things that used to be obvious. I kept asking, “When did I become like this?” But deep down, I knew. It wasn’t sudden. It was built slowly, every time I stayed where I wasn’t valued, every time I ignored what I felt, every time I chose them over me. And the worst part? I called it love.
