The number of Christians defending eternal conscious torment (ECT), in the wake of @KirkCameron's comments, is both sad but curious. It’s sad because of: (a) the psychological damage that ECT has done to people throughout history, (b) the strong historical, philosophical, and moral arguments for annihilationism and / or universal reconciliation (UR); and, (c) my personal experience of being instinctively drawn towards a God who operates with UR, while wanting nothing to do with one who operates with ECT. But it’s curious because of the why. Why do so many Christians defend ECT? Well, there’s several reasons, and theologian David Bentley Hart spends time examining them in That All Shall Be Saved (a highly recommended read). One reason I’m entertaining is a sort of hatred against the self and others that develops, when one fails to overcome the fear that ECT brings, and instead submits to it. Perhaps when one does this, and then is later confronted with the idea that ECT isn’t true, maybe this assaults the ego, as it reveals a character defect. Or maybe it reveals to the person that the reasons for which they accepted Christianity were faulty. Or it’s some type of Stockholm syndrome. I’m not sure. Now to anyone reading this, who has struggled with ECT fears, the good news is the arguments for Universal Reconciliation are much, much stronger, than you might suspect, especially if you were raised in a fundamentalist environment and never seriously explored the alternatives. Again, David Bentley Hart’s That All Shall Be Saved is highly recommended, if you want to start this exploration. And ironically, I don’t even consider myself a Christian. Bunch of people suffering from main character syndrome treating Bitcoin as a religion think they can decide for others what's pure. Remember these guys want to play censor and enforce their dogma on the chain. Thankfully, encryption was built to avoid exactly that kind of control on the internet.

They fear the government & would rather sacrifice decentralization for number go up & government acceptance. @LeonidasNFT is correct, this was the most tiny dick, least cypherpunk conversation on Bitcoin I’ve ever heard. @tomyoungjr goes on to say he is scared Elizebeth Warren will use Ordinals as an excuse to attack Bitcoin & he doesn’t believe in the cypher punk, self sovereignty ethos. These people are not real Bitcoiners & would rather launch Solana pump & dumps & push paper Bitcoin products. What an incredible display of cowardice & lack of technical understanding of Bitcoin. i'm a cypherpunk, and have been running nodes since 1990s. exit remailers, tor, file sharing, bitcoin nodes. p2p networks don't exist unless people with mettle run nodes. filter bippers are weak leeches, scared to p2p, demanding to censor to make nodes "safe" for the weak to run.
