Of course, there's a Hunan independence movement. Take this photo, for example - alongside Uyghur human rights activists and Hunanese independence supporters, you'll also see Cantonian (Guangdong) independence activists. The flag in the upper left corner, with tricolor stripes and a kapok flower in the middle, is the "Cantonian Tricolor Flag," often used by Cantonian independence advocates. Many people have heard of the independence movements of Tibet, East Turkestan, and Hong Kong. But within the territories currently under PRC control, many other regions are also awakening to the idea of breaking free from the Chinese empire. In countries where freedom of speech is protected, like those in the West and Japan, diaspora activists from these regions are speaking out and taking to the streets to promote their cause. Besides Hunan and Guangdong, movements for independence have also emerged in: Basu (Sichuan and Chongqing) Hokkien (Fujian) Yan (Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei) Komland (Jiangxi) Jin (Shanxi) Dian (Yunnan), and Manchuria.
