صدها نفر زیر این پستم تقریباً یه کامنت رو تکرار کردهن، و مطمئنم هرکدوم فکر کرده که خیلی حرف جالب و تازهای میزنه: «اگه مخالف پادشاهی هستی، چرا تو کانادا زندگی میکنی؟»
انگار به ذهنشون نمیرسه که آدم میتونه کشورِ پادشاهیش رو خیلی هم دوست داشته باشه، ولی در عین حال معتقد باشه که بهتره اون کشور جمهوری باشه. هیچ تناقضی هم توش نیست.
بهترین آمار موجود نشون میده که بیش از ٪۴۰ از شهروندان کانادا و حدود ٪۳۰ از شهروندان انگلستان جمهوری رو به پادشاهی ترجیح میدن. در سال ۱۹۹۹ هم حدود ٪۴۵ از مردم استرالیا در همهپرسی رأی دادن که کشورشون جمهوری بشه.
کاملاً حق شماست که پادشاهی مشروطه رو ترجیح بدین. ولی قبل از تکرار این حرف بیمعنی (چطور ممکنه کسی در کانادا مخالف پادشاهی باشه؟) بد نیست دو دقیقه فکر و یه کم تحقیق کنید.

The CIA never installed the Shah. The Shah never left. Not until 1979, but he was there before and after 1953. The CIA was thinking of ways to oust the PM in 1953 but ultimately weren't involved in that coup either. The PM wasn't democratically elected either. He was appointed by parliament. He had popular support. The details matter though.

As I keep saying, without clearly defined aims and a concrete and realistic plan for achieving them, a war cannot meet the just war conditions of there being serious prospects for success and well-grounded confidence that war won’t make things even worse. The “trust the plan” chuds dismissed all this as Ivory Tower moralism but in fact it is cold hard realism, as is becoming more obvious every day. As Plato would warn us, the disaster we’re facing is what happens when the people in charge are dominated either by thumos (Hegseth) or the id (Trump), rather than governed by intellect.
