@BOSSportsGordo I can agree with this. But you have to blame ownership for Bregman. Citing Organizational Policy as the reason as to not offer a no trade clause. Handcuffing yourself because of downward trend on future performance and value not equaling the $$ for an all-star is small market.

Tough sequence brewing here: The Red Sox ruined their relationship with Rafael Devers in the name of making Alex Bregman their 3B. So they traded Devers for a package centered around Kyle Harrison and James Tibbs. Despite that, they let Alex Bregman walk just 7 months later over a no-trade clause. So they gave that money to Ranger Suarez (8.64 ERA in 2 GS so far) despite having a full rotation. And made Caleb Durbin (.204 OPS so far) the new 3B. And traded Kyle Harrison (2.61 ERA in 2 GS so far) and more to the Brewers to get him. James Tibbs (7 homers in 9 games this year in AAA) was traded last year for half a season of Dustin May (5.40 ERA in 6 games for BOS).

Ownership has signed off on three nine-figure deals in the last calendar year. They gave the FO the green light to spend money and trade future assets this winter. Highest payroll in team history, 6th highest CBT number in baseball. Blame em for Mookie, full throttle, everything ‘20-‘24. It was awful. But going from last year’s product to this year’s is on others before it’s on ownership.

After the last week, it feels good to exhale and enjoy a pretty complete Red Sox win. Your offseason additions in Gray, Contreras, Durbin all delivering. Mayer continuing to look extremely impressive to start the year. Slaten and Chapman handling business with Whitlock away. Oh, and the offense didn’t strike out 10 times. If they lost, we would’ve never heard the end of it about that Ceddanne play in CF. Credit to them for not folding after that. No excuse not to win this series with Walker Buehler getting a start.
