The 4th MSG Sports Ministers Meeting (SMM) which followed the 11th MSG Sports Committee Meeting (SCM) concluded in Suva, Fiji yesterday after formally adopting the outcomes of the 11th SCM.

The #MSG spearheaded proceedings @ the #ICJ along with 🇻🇺yesterday, in one of the largest cases in the world court’s history on the request for an advisory opinion on the Obligations of States in respect of Climate Change. The court's opinion is expected to be delivered in 2025.



Countdown mode..#MSG & 🇻🇺 legal teams putting the finishing touches to their statements as the #ICJ proceedings on climate change begin in less than 24 hrs. Our team consists of Deputy DG @GregNimbtik as head of delegation, #MSG Lead Legal Counsel @IlanKiloe, & Brittien Yosef.

The #MSG Governing Bodies met in Port Vila 🇻🇺over the last two days with the Senior Officials Meeting preceding the Foreign Ministers Meeting. The FMM has just endorsed the Secretariat's 2025 Work Programme & Budget.


A 3-day "Waste to Wonder" training began in Honiara this morning in conjunction with the #AIS to support the fight against plastic waste & develop innovative approaches to transforming these into useful or usable commodities and products.

Early this month we hosted a Melanesia Alignment Meeting for Members to consider ways to maximize the impact of submissions while accurately representing the collective interests of the Melanesian sub-region at the ICJ-AO.

The 🇻🇺National Ocean Policy and Marine Spatial Plan is an important instrument in ensuring that the Ocean and its eco-system are developed and managed in a sustainable way to ensure our people can benefit from its eco-services, says @DGMSG_Sec



A milestone reached today with the launch of two new projects thanks to the @AusHCVanuatu. Our new Policy Coordination Unit & #Yut4Melanesia initiative will help enhance the capacity of the Secretariat in improving the implementation of our work program.

A new agreement signed with @UNCTAD to enhance the benefits of #trade for Melanesian nations in the Pacific marks a new chapter of cooperation between the 2 organisations. It is expected to contribute to sustainable socioeconomic development through increased exports. #MSG

We are grateful to have received a grant of 3.2million VT from China as a testament of the strong & deep friendship & goodwill that exists between China and our Members. The assistance will be used to improve our administrative capacity to better serve our Members 🇫🇯🇳🇨🇵🇬🇸🇧🇻🇺

The 2nd MSG Inshore Fisheries Training Programme got underway in Ambon yesterday with fisheries officials from 🇫🇯🇵🇬🇸🇧 and 🇻🇺 in attendance.

@DGMSG_Sec participated @ the AIS Forum High Level Meeting saying the MSG is proud of this association - manifesting the seriousness with which Members attach to addressing the challenges of climate change, sea level rise, good maritime governance, & waste disposal, among others.
