She’s been repeatedly contacting world leaders, billionaires and powerful figures in tech, media and finance.
I’m genuinely concerned for her safety.

This is an idea I contemplate often, especially in the Canadian context.
What concerns me is how little long-horizon civilizational thinking exists in this country. What do we want to become 100 years from now? 500 years from now? Long after our own lifetimes have passed? How often do we even hear the phrase "22nd century" spoken with seriousness?
Instead, we optimize for timid managerialism within four-year election cycles, forgetting that we are supposed to be building a civilization here, not administering a Franco-British imperial inheritance indefinitely.
A serious people thinks not only about quarterly growth figures or the next election, but about what kind of civilization their descendants will inherit centuries from now.
Canada rarely thinks that way at all.

The GRU-linked network known as Storm-1516 continues spreading fake reports falsely attributed to reputable Western media outlets. One recent operation claimed a stolen Paul Cézanne painting was seen in Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office. Though obviously absurd, this kind of Russian FIMI operation is designed to frame Ukraine’s leadership as corrupt and indulging in luxury during wartime.

Piers Morgan asked if we are heading for a global recession. I said we are heading for a global depression.
What followed was one of the more honest conversations I have had on television in a long time.
Three economists. Three very different worldviews. And one question nobody in power seems willing to answer seriously.
The physical infrastructure of the global economy is being destroyed in real time. The financial markets have not caught up yet. When they do, the overreaction will be severe.

@SpencerFernando Global phenomena. Requires global coordination. No human organization can implement laws and policies without the backing of a military and police force. That was a half hearted self-interested US, to a certain extent, but even that no longer exists.

The government-knows-best approach – particularly as it relates to climate policy and government overreach – has not worked well for Canada. In key ways, Prime Minister Carney has recognized this, with the cancellation of the consumer carbon tax, the reversal of the capital gains tax hike, the Canada-Alberta MOU, an openness to privatizing government-controlled assets, support for free trade, and pending regulatory changes that could speed up approval for pipelines and resource projects. These are real steps in the right direction, and Carney should build on those moves towards a more rational economic policy, rather than holding on to the heavy-handed, climate-obsessed approach that has left Canada poorer than we should be.

🚨 Danielle Smith flew solo to Mar-a-Lago. Refused to sign the joint tariff statement. Cut the referendum threshold in half. Said nothing while Trump officials met Alberta separatists three times inside a classified US facility. Defunded Elections Alberta before any of it began.
Then 2.9 million Albertans had their data stolen. Her staff were in the room.
