I just told our six-year old about interlibrary loan. Daughter: They’ll get you ANY book? Even if it’s ten miles away? Dad: Even if it’s a thousand miles away! Daughter: Librarians must be magic. Dad: They have to be. They work with books.

@Woodard4Kansas One can measure a state’s commitment to its youth by how well it funds its schools and colleges. I paid $1000 cash for my first semester at Emporia State. That possibility for self-advancement is gone, as are the programs and professors who helped me.

@csschmitt1 A small percentage might be looking for less reading, writing assignments, etc, but most probably have other reasons. Helps me to remember that every class I dropped had nothing to do with the teacher- a couple times I was just trying to get classes closer together :)

Hey historians! What is a normal attrition rate for class enrollment after the first day? How do you keep from taking it personally? Or, alternatively, how do you prevent losing 5-10 out of 35 students after the first day? Help!
