Starting mid-September, I’m taking a handful of WA State clients — in-person and telehealth. Would love to work through religion-related issues, anxiety, depression, other trauma, etc. If interested, email me at dancoke (at) gmail for more info. Thanks!

@MRibnek What would you say to a Euro style compromise, banned in almost all cases after 15 or 20 weeks? Isn’t that where we are likely headed if anything happens at the federal level?

From the same breath we advocate for the unborn, we must advocate for women. We must stop dismissing women’s voices for the sake of the unborn and consequently being complicit in furthering the severance of women and the unborn that culminates in abortion.

When I required emergency surgery during a pregnancy, the doctor explained the risk of deformations to my unborn child and added that some patients opt for elective abortion to bc of this risk. This doctor was attempting to be empathetic but did not see the ableism he professed.

Dear @thedispatch, as a center-left financial supporter of your work, I think it was a mistake to have Gingrich on the pod to be a Trump apologist. Similar insights about the wars going on could have come from elsewhere. He is not a fair dealer on The Big Lie, etc.

Wanted: Smashing Pumpkins remasters but actually change it so that it’s a normal volume and the low end isn’t as flubby as a toddler’s water park diaper

I've got an upcoming episode type called "Making God Laugh" where I discuss religion/spirituality with comedians. I'm looking for volunteers to listen to 4 of them and give Josh and I feedback on what is working, not working, stuff like that. Any takers?

There are a lot of podcasts on the subject of Christian faith deconstruction. And honestly, I've tried listening to most of them. But the one I keep coming back to, over and over again, is You Have Permission by @DanKoch New to deconstruction? Here's why you should listen: Reason #1: Dan's a licensed therapist You Have Permission episodes feature many psychological elements that explain why people's faith shifts over their lifetimes. During the last several seasons, Dan has been working towards his Ph.D. and is now a licensed therapist who published a Spiritual Harm & Abuse Scale in 2022. The psychological lens he brings to the show is invaluable to understanding your journey. Reason #2: Intelligent guests The guests on the show range from academic scholars of the history of religion to theologians, psychologists, and everyone in between. There are a lot of other deconstruction podcasts with great guests, but the wide spectrum on You Have Permission trumps them all. Reason #3: A both-sides approach Before starting You Have Permission, Dan had a podcast called Depolarize that he ran around the 2016 U.S. presidential election. That show was focused on finding common ground with opposing political viewpoints, and is a major element of You Have Permission. Dan often interviews guests from across the aisle with conservative Christian backgrounds. It's rare to find constructive conversation between opposing ideologies, but this podcast delivers. As a beginner, I promise—this is one of the most helpful resources on the Internet you can sink your teeth into to learn about deconstructing and faith shifting, which are normal processes in any honest spiritual life.

@EmceeDragon @M_Jensen23 I think it's primarily a liberation theology thing? Or anything that emphasizes the oppressed people up against empire angle.

@M_Jensen23 @DanKoch I feel like this is a pretty common progressive Christian take because people want to avoid anything remotely like PSA. Would love to hear you discuss this on the pod. Next Q & A?

Can someone point me to where the "Jesus was killed cause he was a threat to Rome" theory came about? Cause I read through the Crucifixion accounts for Easter and was struck by how much it seems to emphasize that Pilate and Herod didn't care to execute him.
