NEW: Europe is publicly aligning with Iran's central demand that the April 7 ceasefire include Lebanon, a day after the deal collapsed over US and Israeli refusal to include it. Spain is reopening its Tehran embassy after one month and joined France, the UK, Italy, Germany, and the EU Commission in a joint statement calling for the ceasefire to cover Lebanon. Albares, Barrot, and Cooper each condemned Israel's Wednesday strikes on Beirut as a violation threatening the agreement. The Lebanon condition is the exact clause Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf cited yesterday when he walked out of the 10-point proposal before Saturday's Islamabad talks.

Netanyahu's criminal trial resumes on Sun. A region-wide ceasefire, incl in Lebanon, would hasten his jailing. If the U S. wishes to crater its economy by letting Netanyahu kill diplomacy, that would ultimately be its choice. We think that would be dumb but are prepared for it.

Italy in Lebanon@ItalyinLebanon

Yesterday's raids on Beirut and the rest of #Lebanon are a very serious and unacceptable act: bombing a capital, hitting densely populated areas and sowing death among civilians, means violating every principle of international humanitarian law. The Italian Embassy in Beirut mourns with all the Nation. @LBpresidency @grandserail @mofalebanon1

Apartheid became part of the name of the country, as in, “apartheid South Africa.” Apartheid Israel should be the same. The word Israel should never be mentioned without the word Apartheid.

@USEmbassySA @BrentBozell South Africa has a problem with the US bombing an elementary school in Iran and killing about 160 children and their teachers. South Africa has a problem with the US supplying military aid to a country that is committing unspeakable atrocities in the Middle East, including a genocide. South Africa has a problem with the gun violence in America, which has claimed the lives of elementary school children. This violence is perpetrated by people who can buy a gun at a convenience store without checks and balances, because US law allows it. South Africa has a problem with the reversal of Roe V Wade, which has denied women their reproductive rights and criminalised even medically recommended termination. South Africa has a problem with voter suppression which denies mainly Black and poor voters their democratic rights. South Africa has a problem with a US president initiating a rebellion against an election outcome. This included the storming of the Capitol, wherein the SON of THIS Ambassador to South Africa, participated and was convicted as a felon in that crime. South Africa has a problem with Africa's debt crisis that has been created by US-led Western institutions. South Africa has a problem with the UN Security Council and its resistance to reform. Resistance led mainly, by the USA. There are MORE problems but I have to go do my nails.

@RediTlhabi @USEmbassySA @BrentBozell You started off well but some of the issues you mentioned, starting with abortion, have nothing to do with SA interests, we have an 80% Christian population, why would we be advocating for abortion? Already most of our people don't like that it's legal in our own country.

Utter nonsense. Homosexuality is a natural variation in human sexuality. It represents a convergent evolutionary adaptation that has benefited our species both directly and indirectly across generations. Genetic variants associated with same-sex attraction, along with their pleiotropic effects on other traits, have made substantial contributions to humanity. Sophisticated genome-wide modelling suggests that approximately 24.5% of our ancestors, and roughly 1.1 billion people alive today would not have existed without these variants. Moreover, their influence appears linked to enhanced fertility and increased prosocial behaviours, including altruism, across the broader population. To argue that individuals with homosexual orientation should be harmed, or that society as a whole should forfeit these benefits, simply because of one’s own developmental or psychological difficulties, is not only irrational but is profoundly misguided. Claims framed around religious doctrine are equally unconvincing in this context. If the objection were truly theological, we would expect equal concern for all behaviours traditionally labeled as sinful, including numerous heterosexual acts. The highly selective focus on homosexuality strongly suggests that the underlying motivation is not spiritual, but rather stems from unresolved developmental issues. These are often related to early relationships with fathers, challenges around masculinity, or broader social-environmental influences during development.
God hates fags@n1passer

Even if every individual homosexual that ever lived was morally unimpeachable, even if every same sex relationship that ever existed was full of nothing but joy and tenderness and warmth which radiated to everyone whose lives were touched by the individuals in that relationship,

Aljazeera is an international broadcaster, with bureaus in London, Asia, Qatar, Washington, EU, Kenya, Johannesburg, like you. Nobody ever says "France-based AFP News" because you are international. Or "US-based CNN" or "UK-based BBC," or "Toronto-based Reuters." So weird.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Qatar
Qatar Condemns Israeli Airstrikes on Wide Areas in Lebanon Doha | April 08 2026 The State of Qatar condemns the series of heinous Israeli airstrikes that targeted wide areas in Lebanon and resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs deems the strikes a serious escalation and a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, international humanitarian law, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. The Ministry calls on the international community to assume its responsibilities by compelling the Israeli occupation authorities to halt their brutal massacres and repeated attacks on Lebanon, and to ensure their compliance with international laws and charters. It also expresses the State of Qatar's full solidarity with the Republic of Lebanon in the measures it takes to preserve its security and stability, while reaffirming Qatar's firm position on Lebanon's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. #MOFAQatar

After 80 years of mass murder, and today aggression in Iran, ethnic cleansing in Lebanon, genocide in Palestine, corruption of governments across the West, and the fielding of racist proxies to harass human rights defenders everywhere, no, Israel does not have “a right to exist” and does not have “a right to defend itself” anymore than Nazi Germany did. It must be isolated, weakened, defeated, and dismantled. The peace of the world and the rights of millions depend upon it.

I don’t think people around the world realize how bad the attack on Lebanon was today. It’s BAD. Like 9/11 BAD. Hospitals are overflowing and do not have enough blood. We still don’t know what the death toll is. This is TERRORISM. Pure and Simple. April 8. Never forget.

Vance says that the US agreed to a ceasefire that includes "America's allies -- both Israel and the Gulf Arab states." He then says it's "dumb" for Iran to insist that the ceasefire include Lebanon, "which has nothing to do with them." So the US can include its allies in a ceasefire, but Iran can't do the same?
