It’s fascinating how the Sabres and Bills reached the same point of the postseason this year but we have vastly different opinions of how their seasons went. The Sabres overachieved, going a magical run, winning their division after snapping a historic drought. The Bills underachieved and saw another playoff disappointment after failing to win the AFC East for the first time since 2019. And yet, both teams got to the same point, reaching the second round of the playoffs. Expectations play a role in your personal experience. It’s the first time both teams have been simultaneously good in a quarter of a century. Who knows where either franchise will go from here but it’s a good time to be a Buffalo sports fans in spite of the inevitable heartbreak we always seem to face.
