Western Canadian Agronomists / Extension: Do you want public / industry research into mixed grain intercropping trials like crop rotation, N dynamics, greenhouse gas effects?

@Glantonboyd @FLOLOfarms Cool. Looks like you have a good canopy. How many fabas established. Will u solid seed the beans in the future?

@DarylChubb @FLOLOfarms We used the 1890 jd. Will likely hire a corn planter moving forward. Planted May 30. We grazed alfalfa hard early May and then let it regrow for three weeks prior to spraying

Moving cows daily or multiple times a day w/ an adaptive plan is really starting to pay off I think. Not bad for moisture but greatfull for the grass! Dung beetles really starting to show up now within hours of the fertilization event. The more you move them the more you see!

@DarrenMaddess @johnkempf @RickBieber81 Take a tissue/sap test and ID the imbalances, address accordingly if you can (eg foliar). Even if it's too late to address via nutrition, at least you'll have a snap shot of what minerals were imbalanced at that time pressure was high/low brix. Don't repeat next year.

Lots of moisture and temperatures for disease, grasshopper pressure is increasing too, mid afternoon Brix level on wheat 4-6. Any advice? @johnkempf @RickBieber81 @IntegratedSoils Trying to avoid -cides but very concerned about $ too. Already lost Tall fescue to armyworms but

CANADA needs this attitude. Imagine a country that looked ENTIRELY after itself, then exported foods/goods/resources to the world at FAIR market prices #EnergyEast #TransMountain #NorthernGateway #CoastalGasLink We have the people and resources, we just need a Federal Government
Doug Ford@fordnation

When our assembly lines start, we aren’t going to stop them. Ontario will be the manufacturing support that Canada needs right now in supplying much needed medical supplies to get through this pandemic.

@boxhfarm Anyone have a simple but effective summer water system. Solar preferred.

Everyone is sharing winter water systems so here’s our main one. From a flowing well we run a line underground into the trough and then a overflow takes it back out to a nearby slough. No heat, no power. Kind of boring, but never fails. #winterwater

@KJRaisbeck When diversity is in the system plants can do great things. Had annuals and some sweet clover survive a few -16° days in Oct. Growth was slow but had an active live plant.

At Ag days, Kris Nichols said in Canada plants should be growing a minimum of 260 days . Is this possible ? If so any help accomplishing this would be appreciated

@patkunz @PremiumAg @chinookag @ellis_gord @CFSL_Agronomy Options would be a tillage radish if seeded mid to late June so it stays vegetative, a tankard type turnip, Sweet Clover (which you have done), and sunflower. Barley or Italian Rye Grass would be a good annual grass option. Perennials are good if you can take out of production

@DarylChubb @agronomistag Thinking about 60 lb/ac of N. Not too much but enough to stimulate much more leaf production than at present. 2 very dry years in a row and our fababean did not do well or supply any N to the system.
