@DaveLockyer2 @didtheswanswin The amount of crying over moving a game back a few hours is honestly hilarious. Moving it would also make a massive difference for fans travelling from interstate to watch their teams. Allowing them to arrive later that day and having to pay less in accomodation etc.

So, if the reports are accurate, the AFL big-wigs have decided on a twilight Grand Final this year... Why? Surveys have consistently shown a large majority of fans want to keep the day-time final. Is there any other sport that ignores what fans want as often as the AFL?

@didtheswanswin There is a commercial reality here. The broadcast deal helps pay the players. TV deal reliant on prime time viewing audience for advertising. Will players take significant pay cut to keep day GF? No. I can live with twilight compromise.

@didtheswanswin The AFL can and will do it because they know the fans, though complaining about it, will still watch it, and the timeslot may attract more casual viewers, while it gives them the opportunity to have entertainment aspects when it's dark, better for lightshows & fireworks.
