@CloudyNerd Osirix is very good and its open source son Horos is very challenging to code. I pay for Adobe Lightroom. I am very happy for my employer to pay MATLAB to produce an IDE that works with great documentation, very few bugs and easy visualisation - lets me get on with the task.

Does anybody know somebody who is an unashamed advocate of closed source software for science/signal processing/imaging?
