At NYU Shanghai, language learning happens through exploring the city and connecting with Shanghai history.
Professor Beilei Gu led students from her Shanghai Architecture for Chinese Language Learners course through neighborhoods connected to the former residences and visits of influential Chinese writers such as Lu Xun and Xiao Hong.

How much can a tiny nudge change a turbulent flow? 🌊
New research from NYU Shanghai’s Vahagn Nersesyan shows that even small, local controls—a few “inputs” or a thin heating strip—can steer an entire fluid system. Big insight, small actions → big effects.

🧵 Thread on the mysterious death of Chinese internet celebrity cat Wukong 👇
The meeting between the Chinese cyclist Zhao Shuo and the playful kitten he named Wukong seemed to come straight from a novel. The little kitten scratched at his tent at 4 am, and as soon as she had purringly nestled herself next to him, the two became inseparable. He took the cat on his incredible solo-cycling journey through Xinjiang.
