Remembering the Herron Family - Memorial Parade, Dromore 7th April A poignant evening of remembrance as many hundreds attended and walked in Dromore in the memorial parade for William, Elizabeth and Noeline Herron on the 50th anniversary of the terrible events of that evening. The IRA terrorists left incendiary devices in their shop on Market Square, going off in the early hours murdering the three members of the Herron family who lived above their drapery shop. A horrible and horrifying terrorist attack that took the lives of 3 people who loved each other and who were much loved. We gathered on the 50th anniversary, joined by many members of the family. The turnout was huge, and a poignant and fitting memorial as a demonstration of both the continued shared horror of the events but also of the love and the respect the family are held in. We must never forget, nor allow the past to be rewritten. Horrifying and wrong then, as it is now. Remembering William, Elizabeth and Noeline, three people filled with love and humanity. Well done Lower Iveagh District No 1 and all who turned out and paraded in remembrance. I was joined by my DUP colleagues, Cllr Tim McClelland and Alderman Paul Rankin.
