Coach for community leaders and execs. Not really on X much anymore but sometimes I pop in to see what people are yelling about these days.

Lately, I’ve been wondering if I ever truly wanted to be a CEO. Did I want to start companies? Did I want to build something massive? Or were these stories handed to me? I shared my reflections in my newsletter today. davidspinks.substack.com/p/did-i-even-w…

step 1: burn out step 2: heal step 3: teach others how to not burn out step 4: realize it's hard to make a living doing that step 5: work harder to make it work anyway step 6: burn out

This is the best piece of content ever done - it’s raw and captures the Othership experience. The haters say it’s culty, but its a masterpiece and will make you feel something. --- (use headphones, full screen, and MAX VOOLLLUMMMMEEE) Tag your NYC friends in the comments for a complimentary journey at our new Williamsburg location live today - or retweet your favorite Othership moment in a repost for a complimentary journey for you. I'll DM everybody that shares.

There should be more IRL communal experiences for adults that feel like the best parts of college (in and outside the classroom)

Buying a house and I can't imagine doing this without AI. Reviewing contracts, explaining things, walking me through processes... It's been absolutely gamechanging.

For the past 3 years I’ve been in what I keep calling my “cocoon phase” Real talk: after selling House of Wise I felt so much guilt, shame and identity loss. I built that company at the height of COVID and my divorce. So it was my life raft. I held on to the company as the ground beneath me shifted and I lost everything (the family I was building, my career as a corporate marketer and my entire support system in NYC) So when the company ended…. I didn’t know what was keeping me afloat. I spent the next few years retreating from society. What did I have to say? Who was I? And I realized I needed to spend the time working on that. I’m slowly coming out of my cocoon. I interviewed the Mayor of Miami and an 8x Olympic gold medalist yesterday. I’m attending a conference next week. But it’s different this time. Why? Because I’ve done the work to have stable found beneath me. When you build from a place of stability - the ups and downs won’t throw you off balance. I’m ready to fly around again and gear up for this book launch.

@heyalexfriedman yessss burnout isn't just from overwork it's from feeling misaligned with how you're showing up in the world and having to just suck it up and show up anyway

I’ve become convinced recently that a lot of people who think they’re burned out, aren’t actually burned out. They’re just doing stuff they hate, with people they hate, in places they hate and hate themselves too much to admit it.

Can’t believe it’s been 4 years since The Business of Belonging was published! To all who have read it, shared it, and used it to build better communities, I appreciate you deeply 🙏

Something I’ve struggled with in the past: I will see conferences happen and sit back and wish I was a speaker - hoping someone will notice the work I’m doing and success I’ve had. And then I finally realized…..closed mouths don’t get fed. You want something? Go ask for it. I sent two messages today to people saying if they wanted more speakers for an event, then I’d love to chat! shoot your shot every day and watch your wins add up!

@jonnym1ller Learning to sit alone with my thoughts has actually been my #1 path to reducing anxiety. I finally stopped throwing myself into "doing" as a way to avoid just being.
