This is a real problem… (Understatement) "Generally, $150 Brent is where people will really start to put their pencils down and do the math," Babin said. At that price, analysts say, Americans might start taking the bus, working from home or rethinking their summer vacations. Manufacturers could slow down rather than operate uneconomically. I read that and thought - wait…what does that mean for those who cannot work from home…inflation is a regressive tax - it hits those who cannot afford it least the most. Worst of all, inflation was accelerating ahead of the war. Scarcities will erupt that keep prices elevated above suppressed demand. wsj.com/finance/commod…

New from us: Saudi oil officials are working frantically to project how high oil might go if the Iran war doesn’t end soon—and they don’t like what they are seeing. Base case: prices could soar past $180 a barrel if disruptions persist until late April.

Messaging in the past week: this isn’t that big a deal because we produce so much energy; this is short term pain for long term gain; actually, higher oil prices are good for us on net; actually, the Strait of Hormuz is open (but for the scenario people have feared for years)

Hegseth: “The only thing prohibiting transit in [Hormuz] right now is Iran shooting at shipping.” “It is open for transit should Iran not do that”
