Is anyone else beginning to wonder what the point of publishing numbers on COVID-19 infected people in the UK is if the testing rate is so low? The only objective metric in that scenario is likely to be deaths...

On testing: there is no testing. And no contact tracing. Even for those with symptoms. Health workers are being exposed to danger. There is no clear guidance either nationally or locally.

Idris Elba now joins Tom Hanks and others on the growing list of celebrities with #COVID19. None of them appear that unwell. Why are they getting access to diagnostic testing when this remains so difficult to healthcare professionals and the general public?

Every attempt will be made to keep life-saving procedures available, but the weeks ahead are unpredictable. Testing takes minimum of 48hrs to come back - so donor testing is not practical and is unlikely to influence outcome

Current advice from the British Transplant Society regarding COVID-19 and solid organ transplant recipients, organ donation and acute transplantation. Advice likely to change daily - check NHS and government sites for details.

Reports from Italy suggest activity greatly reduced because of capacity for post op beds, lack of blood products and reduced donation again because of ICU capacity.
