The Little Death is about how people often use threats and intimidation to keep broken relationships together. The narrator in the song doesn’t even go through with it.

The knife is supposed to represent emotional violence. The kinds we inflict on one another every day with words and actions. I recognize I’m not perfect. I often don’t live up to my own standards, but I hope I’m not as bad as the bands that sample Return of the Living Dead. 🤷🏻‍♀️
