The phrase “African Giant” was first publicly used by Burna Boy on January 3, 2019, when he addressed Coachella over the small size of his name on their lineup poster. That was the last time Coachella presented his name in such manner.
Six months after, he released what is now one of the greatest African albums in history, named "African Giant". In same 2019, on November 20, the album became the first contemporary Nigerian project to bag a Grammy nomination.
