Really strong first episode. Seriously impressive action and stunt work. Dokusai already stands out from other big bads in toku by facing our heroes this early. Touha feels like a precursor to the kind of wise-ass protagonists that the Heisei era favoured.

@shpeedzworld For as different as Ryuki was I still think it holds the spirit of Rider especially more than stuff like Kabuto or Fourze or Saber (mind you these are 3 shows that I enjoy.)

@Dfafed686 I'd argue it "died" even earlier with Ryuki. It was a great show, but entirely disconnected from what Rider was before then on almost every level. There was no particularly good artistic reason imo for Ryuki to be Kamen Rider and not something new entirely

I’m late to this but Rider as a franchise has been dead for quite a while. The moment bandai saw how much of a money printer collectible gimmicks were was the moment the franchise died specifically at OOO. There’s an entertaining show once in a blue moon but the soul is gone.

My most nuclear hot tokusatsu take is that between Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, if one of them really had to die, it should've been Rider, and I say that as someone who massively prefers Rider to Sentai

In 1976 Takeshi Sasaki, most famous for playing Ichimonji Hayato in Kamen Rider, starred in the tokusatsu series Uchuu Tetsujin Kyodain, playing the character Ryuuji Hayama aka Grounzel. He’s goofy and likes to eat a lot.

It took me 15 episodes to realize this but one of Gavan Infinity’s biggest problems is that Reiji has no presence despite being the mc. Like every other Gavan has something going for them while Reiji has his “anger” and beef with Dark Gavan which has mattered for exactly 2 eps.
