I am absolutely devastated and sick to my stomach, but this needs to be called out — because this animal shelter is not even trying to prevent euthanasia. I offered to adopt Lucy from Los Angeles County Animal Control – Palmdale. So did many others across Instagram, X, and Facebook. She was only 1 year old. Her behavior assessment was a 1 — meaning sweet, gentle, and good with other dogs. She even had a euthanasia hold placed when I offered to adopt. And today, they killed her anyway. When adopters are waiting and adamantly trying to save a dog, and you still choose death, that’s not overcrowding — that’s animal cruelty and moral failure. What kind of monsters do this? This has to stop. These California shelters must be exposed and held accountable. Too bad soulless Gavin Newscum won’t do anything to prevent this in the future. And to the person who failed Lucy — I hope you see this and realize you are directly responsible for killing this dog. No animal should pay with their life for human neglect. Today I laid flowers in memory of Wayne Broadhurst. I’m still in shock: he was killed by an Afghan asylum seeker, the same man whose life in the UK was made possible by hardworking taxpayers like Wayne. As another Afghan, I felt it was my duty to pay my respects to a man who welcomed us with open arms. Wayne represented the kindness and trust that Britain offered to people like me seeking safety. To my fellow Afghans who came to this country for a better life, I ask you to visit and pay your respects too. Let’s show Britain that not all of us are the same, that we stand with the innocent and against violence in every form. Rest in peace, Wayne. You deserved better. 🕊️💔
